Ready to clear out the house and shop for some great deals?
The Forest Park Civic Association’s Fall Community Garage Sale is Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (these are the hours we are advertising; you can set your own hours).
Households throughout Forest Park East and West will host sales and the FPCA will advertise and promote the neighborhood sale to attract shoppers from across the city.
Maps and listings of addresses of participants will be handed out to prospective buyers at the East and West Island entrances to Forest Park on Karl Rd. and Sandalwood Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the day of the sale.
Everyone can host their own sale without any registration or payment. The more sales, the better!
If you want to, you can list your sale on our flyer/map which we hand out the morning of the sale. The FPCA charges $5.00 per household to advertise in the flyer/map. The fee helps pay our cost of advertising and printing. Forms are due by Sept. 10.
Start collecting your sale items and look for more information and a form to list your sale in the August and September editions of The Forester newsletters, delivered by volunteers to your door every month.
Here are some helpful tips on hosting a successful garage sale:
-
Advertise well: Use Facebook Marketplace, neighborhood groups, and signs with clear arrows.
-
Organize items: Group by category (clothes, tools, toys) and make browsing easy.
-
Price clearly & fairly: Use stickers or tags, bundle small items, and be open to bargaining.
-
Create an inviting setup: Use tables, racks, and good lighting; keep the space tidy.
-
Offer change & bags: Have plenty of small bills, coins, and shopping bags ready.
-
Highlight big items: Place furniture or valuable items near the street to attract passersby.
-
Engage with shoppers: Be friendly, approachable, and ready to negotiate.
-
Have a free box: A “free” section encourages browsing and can clear clutter.
-
Plan for leftovers: Arrange donation pickup or drop-off after the sale.
